I recently had a bad shopping experience in Marks and Spencer, and was wondering whether I should have made an official complaint. Though it is too late now.

I bought some lingerie from a westend branch, and as I know my size and was in rather a hurry I just grabbed the hanger, paid and left.

Later that evening as I went to put them away I noticed the knickers looked as though they had been worn, so I threw them back in the bag disgusted deciding to take them back to my local branch next day. Next day I tipped the bag out at the returns desk, and only then noticed that they looked as though they'd been worn for a prolonged period of time (I won't go into details), and having been in a plastic bag overnight, they actually smelt really foul. They called the manager who immediatly did a refund and I left.

Now I'm wondering whether I should have written to their headoffice. As I can see no logical explanation as to why such a foul and worn pair of knickers would end up on the shopfloor of such a well reputed store particulary in one of their main branches.

It certainly is pants!

Even though the matter has been 'dealt with'?

i reckon someone put their old ones on the hanger and stole the new ones,so they were seen leaving the changing room with a pair...odd but iv known people to steal pairs of shoes in shops leaving their old ones behind!! disgusting and trampy!!!
Erlack!!! At least they exchanged them for you, and the staff were probably as disgusted as you were.

Even so, given the state of them, a polite letter to head office wouldn't hurt, given how M&S are so big on customer satisfaction.

Thats really gross.

A good friend of mine used to work in M&S and said they used to get that type of thing all the time but since their policy was to accept all returns then it wasnt questioned. She was revolted at having to refund obviously worn tights, pants etc. Yuck!

They still shouldnt have been back on the shop floor though.

I'd just drop them an e-mail if I were you. You can access their e-mail through their web page.

prob still not too late to wright a letter of complaint. As it still happened to you and your at least making them aware of what has happened, then at least they have a chance to ensure it wnt hapen again (we hope) ! lol

go ahead hun-write that letter!
