Replacement
15 Answers
I bought a lovely short crochet type cardigan the other week and when I put it in wash at weekend it all came apart by the seam under the arm. Now I don't have the receipt but what are my chances on getting a replacement? as I love the top.

More importantly though, you don't need the till receipt to return faulty goods. All you need to be able to do is to show you bought that item from that shop. For example, a printed bank statement could suffice. I have done this myself a couple of times.

Hi 4getmenot, i would imagine it would depend which shop you bought it from. Some are better than others. Its worth a try but do it sooner rather than later so they still have them in. If they did flatly refuse, which i very much doubt they would, then you could always get some matching wool/cotton and just catch it up yourself.
Well I went into shop yesterday firstly picking up the other two cardigans left on the shelf. These were also coming apart at the same seam under the arms so I could prove they were all faulty. I took them all up to counter and explained I didnt have my receipt but would like to exchange rather than money back. The girl behind the counter said I think we now have a policy where you need your receipt to return anythin. I said I dont think so these items are faulty I'm not asking for money back but I have a right to exchange please can I ee the manager (but all said in a very polite way) The manager came up and I explained and he said yep definately faulty if theres something else you want in the shop we'd be happy to exchange the item and we will get onto our retailers to tell them these items are not the usual standard quality. :-) I thanked them both for there help and got some new clothes :-)
I had to return two tops to Oasis that fell apart after a few weeks wear and a couple of washes. Each time I didn't ahve the receipt but each time they gave me an exchange and were absolutely fine. It depends on the shop probably. Big chains have less to lose and are desperate for customer loyalty so can afford to write off goods I guess. Everything else I've bought from there has been fine by the way- I think it was a design fault.
