how about a nice piece of jewellery(a locket maybe) and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers.

sorry, its not very original but at 96 i'm sure she has everything she needs!!
What about a photo album with a election of old and new family type photo's? She can keep it by her always to look at when she likes.

She has an album we done that last year for her, so that was a good idea, but a used one im affraid. x

A bouquet of flowers sounds good, she loves flowers, if i can find the ones she likes best i could get them delivered maybe, thats a good one. Thanku. x
Tamirra, why not a lovely house plant instead, perhaps it would last longer than a bouquet ?
Question Author
yeah there is some really pretty ones out this time of year, i want it special as we thought we were going to lose her a couple of weeks ago as she had pneumonia, but she pulled through, bless. xxx
i know its summer, but it never lasts long in this country so what about some sheep skin slipper boots type things - they are so warm and cosy and very comfortable - when we take my nan out for the day its a struggle to get her to put proper shoes on she lives in them!!
Question Author
Thankyou for that, im getting some good ideas and i would like to thankyou all, i want it to be special as we dont know how much longer we will have her. Thankyou again. xx
We made a little hamper up for my husband's grandma at a similar age, some little bars of choc, biscuits.individual bottles of wine,(she loved her daily tipple!) nibbles etcetc

I got individual size things where I could as her apetite wasn't huge

Thats a brilliant idea, thankyou so much. xxxx
Can she get out with a wheelchair ? What about an afternoon out at a large garden centre. The colours and smells would be great at this time of year. Then afternoon tea. Finish with buying a scented plant or rose. Planted in the garden where she can see it. Alternatively there is a company somewhere that will deliver a bunch of flowers every week / fortnight. I can't remember what it's called but they probably have a web site.
If she doesn't get out much a bit of fresh air works wonders.
My mum is only in her sixties but I know that she appreciates my time more than anything.I very often give her a 'voucher' for lunch at our local tea shops or garden centres. Good luck with all our ideas. xx

Hi, no she cant get out, we tried to take her to the gardens of the home, but she cant handle it, shes so used to her own surroundings now.
I never know what to buy my gran but this year my Mum suggested I pay for her to have her hair done. She was dead chuffed and thought it was a highly original idea!
