Hey, just heard all the fuss about GHD straightners blowing up in peoples hands and exploding and things. Wondering if the company are going to take them off the shelves or not because lots of people dont know about it and might still go buy them.

I've had my GHDs for a while now, I wonder if they could be hazardous? Also, even though I bought them not that long ago, they may have been on the shelves for quite some time and been part of the 'faulty batch'?
I have just emailed Ghd with my concerns. I'll let you know what/if they reply.
I think it was a batch problem and they've all been recalled. I accidently broke mine recently, wrote to them and they sent me a brand new pair!
Our daughter kindly bought me some BaByliss hair straighteners for Christmas & they're brilliant.

However, I was getting a bit concerened after reading this thread & looked up what GHD stands for - I'm relieved to know it's for "Good Hair Day"!!!!

Sorry if this sounds a silly question, but I haven't read/seen the latest on this - is GHD also a make, or does it apply to all hair straighteners?
GHD is a make (like Babyliss) - your Babyliss ones will be fine as long as Babyliss don't recall straighteners
I'd never heard of GHD before, so thank you for that flipflop!
GHD's are ok but my sister bought some about 2 months ago and within 5 weeks they'd broken.. luckily noone was injured... they just didnt turn on.. but i wouldnt advise them now!! she had to send them away and theyve only just got back.. i think theyre a load of **** for what your paying.. my cheapo pair for 25 have stuck with me thru rain n' shine for over 6 months now!!

If you want an alternative to GHD's then go for something with a heat of 200 degrees or over, ceramic, long cord, and snag free plates.. you can get brilliant pairs for about 50.. seriously.. GHD's are a comlete waste of money. .more hassle than anything!!
hope that helps!!!
I bought my daughter a pair of GHD straighteners for her birthday in February and on Monday she turned them on and sparks came out the wire lead , it had burnt through the rubber cable and thankfully she wasnt hurt. Just returned them and waiting for a reply
