what would you wear for your 40th?

as a female, what would you wear for your 40th birthday party, any ideas? dont think it should be over the top ie not glittery as just got rid of xmas and not trousers as not v. feminine and always wear em.

I would go to a store & get a personal shopper. They`re would have ideas which you would probably not think about.

How about a long flowy skirt or a sexy pencil skirt - you're never too old to look sexy! As for a top, like you say you're not after something glittery so why not go for a fabric that feels good like satin or velvet.

The most important thing is to be comfy as well as a bit glam. You could always find a plain little black dress and accessorise it in a way that is to your taste, with a beautiful scarf and elegant jewellery.

They have some gorgeous dresses about at the minute, very simple and flattering. How about a knee length dress and some nice jewellery. I have bought a gorgeous wrap around tshirt dress which looks fab with dressy heels at night but equally as nice dressed down for during the day.

A friend of mine got "personal shopped" at M7& a couple of weeks ago. She is a perfect size 10 and normally dresses really well, she just fancied a change. She came home with lots of stuff, they advised her to try it on again at home and then return what she didn't like. She looked really good and very different to what she normalyy wears.

This is a new service at M&S Kingston but I think theyb do it in other large stores

some great ideas, thanks, dont you have to pay for the service of a personal shopper though? can think of debenhams and house of frazer but not sure if they would do it normally??!!
