We purchased an electric kettle on line from Amazon at 5pm on Thursday and received it at 8.30am Friday morning. Can anyone beat that for service?

Ummm, I went to my local hardware store and bought an 18 ounce hammer at 5:00PM on Tuesday and received it 5:01PM the same day!
Your praise is not for Amazon but a freak of the delivery service. I think you will find that most of Amazon`s customers have to wait much, much longer.

I can only speak as I find. I have both bought and sold on Amazon on many occasions and I have yet to experience any problems, even from secondary private sellers.
a few years ago, when i was living in halls at uni, we ordered some tickets to a gig over the phone at about 4.30 in the afternoon and thought nothing more about them - expecting them to arrive in a few weeks.

later that evening a few of us had some drinks and, for no particular reason, decided to stay up all night.

bleary eyed and ready for bed, we wandered into the canteen at about 8am for some breakfast and then past the post table before going to sleep - imagine our surprise when we saw our tickets had arrived in the post that morning!

so our tickets managed to be ordered, dispatched and delivered to us before we even went to bed!
Clanad - that's cheating!
But I once bought flowers from a florist over the phone, and had them delivered less than 30 minutes later.
Actually Wellard it's a mixture of both. Just because you order something on Amazon, it doesn't mean that it gets processed immediately.

So you can thank Amazon and Royal Mail (who are the delivery service) for this speeeeedy delivery.

My Amazon delivery was by one of the private companies, not Royal Mail.
