Hi, I previously always had nokia phones and loved them. Had a Sony Ericsson which was also good.

Thanks Trinny, thats a great help.
Stay with Nokia and if he is looking to change from O2 I would recommend T-Mobile or Virgin but avoid Orange
Why would you avoid orange? I would recommend them personally
i def wouldnt recommend Orange either - nightmare people to deal with - make things up on you bill etc etc! Would def recommend T-mobile - have had no problems and always seem to have helpful peope (in UK) and good network coverage...
As for phones - i always get nokia or sony ericcson - nokia probably more reliable!
I've got a sony ericcson wlakman phone on O2 plan, no problems and easy to use, also quite robust, it's fallen down the stairs a few times and it still works.
Personally I don't like any that open up, i find that eventually the connecting wires break down and they start to break down.
Id say stick with nokia. I have the N80 and find it really good.

As for providers Id always say steer clear of O2 after problems i experienced with them. I now have my N80 on 3 network and i get frustrated with the fact the the signal will just drop from full to zero without me moving, usully just as Im halfway through an important call and i have to wait for the signal to return.

I never had a problem with orange.
Nokia N95 all the way baby!!!!

Thanks folks, I think he'll probably stay with O2 to be honest cos my son and I are on the same so calls to us are cheaper. He's looking at the Nokias and Sony Ericssons now after all you've said so thanks for your help.
Hubbie and son ( both 02 ) have had horrible reception issues with the last three Nokias and the screen has died on one phone twice we will be sticking to Sony for the next round of renewals. It is a shame as we have previously had no gyp. with lots of Nokias : before the N series. I think it is luck of the draw as some of hubbies work collegues are very happy with theirs, but when you get a bad 'un it's baaaaaaaad!
