you get paid to do your job, he gets paid to do his job, if he does it well then he's good at his job - no one needs to tip anyone for anything now that we have minimum wage.

A pizza is a lot less lighter and cheaper than bags of shopping. What's the difference when it comes to tipping?

I tried to tip the Tesco man when he delivered my shopping and he wouldn't take it, saying that they were not permitted to accept tips. This was a couple of years ago mind you, but I can't see that they'd change their policy.

We never tip our drivers. I'm not sure they'd be able to accept if we did.

Apart from which, there's one particular driver in our area who always tries to get our shopping delivery because he lives down the road and can nip home for a quick cuppa after he's been to us. I reckon that's as good a tip as anything.

It gets on my nerves these days that some people who come to your home delivering stuff expect a tip for doing the job that they are being paid for. Bin men expect a tip at Christmas for empyting your bin, Postmen/women expect a tip for delivering your post.boys/gorls want tips at Christmas for delivering your daily newspapers and the worst of all are taxi drivers, they charge you top wack and then want a tip as well, and if you don't give them one then you know you will be at the back of the queue when wanting to get somewhere on time by a driver who thinks he won't get a tip out of you.

The only tip that I ever gave our postman was that it was a bad idea to put his fingers through the letterbox when pushing the mail through and there is a big-postie-hating-dog in the house. It took me ages to rescue the mail from the dog, his teeth had gone right through the pile of mail. The postie? He got off with scuffed knuckles.

Tesco drivers - they earn good money and are not allowed to take tips. And they are always really keen to get back to their van after lugging cat litter and other heavy stuff up two flights of stairs.

I worked 25 years (24 years and 33 days - but who's counting) as a civil servant and never got a tip. I got plenty of abuse and many things thrown at me, and abuse in shops and in the street - but no tips.

..none of the large supermarkets allow tipping of any kind, if you feel you have recieved good service from a particular member of staff, what you can do is write to the store telling them how helpful he/she is , he/she will more than likely be given some reward points ( which he will be able to redeme in store) depending on the scheme ran at that particular store... most people will queue/write /phone to complain about bad service, but hardly anyone bothers to comment when they have recieved excelent service...
