There are lots of web sites selling very cheap cigarettes to be shipped to the UK. Has anyone ever bought any of these, and if so were they OK, and without problems with credit cards etc.. The cigarettes only cost about �10 for 200.

As you are buying abroad you have very little rights if the supplier doesn't send them - your credit card company won't help you because it is illegal.

It's not strictly illegal to buy cigarettes online from overseas. It's only illegal to seek to avoid the excise duty, import duty, VAT and customs examination fee.

I did the sums for a similar post a couple of years ago. They clearly show that you can end up paying substantially more for cigarettes purchased online, compared with buying them in the UK:

I would think twice about buying cheap cigarettes from abroad. You do not know what is in them. I ended up in hospital for 6 weeks in intensive care and swear it was the cigarettes. The girl in the bed opposite had bought what she thought was cheap vodka but was antifreeze. So be careful.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy cigarettes from Tabac-Pas-Cher. We paid 150 Euros for cigarettes in May and have still not received them. They have not responded to 10 different emails. BEWARE, these people appear to be crooks.
