I thought string bags would be a good alternative to plastic carriers. Does anyone know where I can buy them, other than through the internet?

String bags are cool, I used to have one as a kid for my swimming kit and it dried it out on the walk home.

Not sure where they are available but it's certainly an Idea....although they would have to be made of string that would not trap birds or wildlife if they got caught up in them.

Thanks for your answer, Cockney. I know I can get them on-line, but I'd rather just go to a shop and buy them really. That's if I can find a shop that sells them. I think I'll post this question in Society and Culture too - might get a wider audience.
Marks And spencer sell these bags in their food department at the tills.

i think string bags should be used to replace plastic carriers.
cloth ones are just as good, they could be doubled up when we have rainy days.
You can get them in hippy-type shops. They are called turtle bags.
