friends of mine did this they lost there deposit and the delivery charge . go grovel to the shop as they are in there right to leave it on the door step
I had the same problem when I bought a sofa from argos - they took it back no probs and I got my money back
I had this problem several years ago. I had paid in full and was told I would not get my money back. I was getting new windows around that time and was trying to work out how I could get the sofas delivered at the point when the old windows were out. Anyway we then got my dad to take the door frames off and crossed our fingers. When the suite came back it was a different delivery guy and he said he would have got it in no bother. I would have thought if your landlord could find another smaller suite with the company then they would swap it - therefore them still getting his money?

they may relent if he does a deal and buys something smaller but higher in price.
