who pays for postage cost?
2 Answers
I have a sewing machine I bought earlier this year that has developed a fault. Its a computerised machine & it would appear something has gone wrong with it. It is under warranty but I bought it from a specialist sewing machine company hundreds of miles from my home. My question therefore is, do I have to foot the bill for postage costs which will obviously be steep because of the weight of the machine or do the company I bought it from pay? I would just like to know my rights before contacting them. I'd be so grateful for any replies. thanks!

Large items are normally couriered which is cheaper and safer.
As it is under warranty, they should either pay for or reimburse any costs in getting it to them, maybe even arrange for a courier themselves.
I have a TV which has gone wrong, and my warranty includes a collect and return service - that said, I have to box it up, and who keeps a box for a 32 inch lcd for longer than a couple of months?

thank you for such a speedy reply. I should have realised that large items are delivered/returned by courier & not sent off through the post office! I would guess that they should pay or as you say, reimburse me for the cost incurred. I will call the company tomorrow to see what they say. Luckily, I have got the box it was delivered in, in the loft but know just what you mean about not keeping boxes after a few months. I really appreciate your reply. thanks
