Hi all not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes!

I'm going to have an ivory wedding dress & groom is hoping to either have a dark brown or light brown suit if possible!

Our theme for reception is more burgundy/white and not really reflecting those colour in our outfits but what can the bridesmaid wear?

Any suggestions - thanks all

It's your wedding. You can have the bridesmaids dressed in any colours you like!

I'd suggest that the colour of the theme for the reception is far less important than the look of the photographs taken at the church/register office (or wherever else they're taken), and the general appearance of the wedding group during the actual marriage ceremony.

Some colours (e.g. blue) probably wouldn't look particularly great alongside a brown suit. My own colour tastes suggest that you ought to be looking towards pastel shades of yellow or orange. (NB: I'm not suggesting that your bridesmaids should look like workmen in high-visibility fluorescent clothing! I'm thinking of far more delicate shades of those colours).

Personally i dont think they have to match your outfits. My friend who got married recently also wore ivory and her bridesmaids wore black....they looked stunning!

here is a link to a bridal website where u can dress up your bridal party and colour coordinate bridesmaids dresses try it.......good luck!!

Actually, a duck egg blue colour looks really nice with brown, or you could go for a gold colour or something - What time of year is the wedding, what colours do you like, what colouring are the bridesmaids a process of elimination should get you there.

However, think about what a brown suit is going to look like in the years to come in your photos - that's why people tend to stick with a traditional colour and cut and maybe accesorise with the fashionable colour of the day.
I saw a brown suit and cravat etc to match in brown colours in Slaters menswear on Saturday. Have your bridesmaids dresses whatever colour you like. They didn't all used to be matching you know - when I was a little girl I was a bridesmaid in an orange (yes, orange dress), the other two bridesmaids were in a green dress and a blue dress - very colourful!
They need to enhance your dress at the end of the day wihtout stealing all the limelight! For children keep it plain and non fussy, remember they will get irritated if it it is too fancy and filly and may throw a tanturn if they don't like it! There are some gorgeous childrens ballgowns at http://www.blushfashions.com which are simple yet stunning and would match any style wedding dress.Several colours too so bound to one that suits. For adult bridesmaids I would go for something a bit more grown up, stylish and maybe slender instead of all puffy!
You could go for ivory dresses for the little ones and maybe chocolate for the adults? or if all little ones the gold looks nice with the ivory and the apple green is gorgeous.
