What is the best make of bicycle to buy?

I am not sure if this is the right category for this question, but need to know which make of bike to buy. I am torn between a Ridgeback, and a Pinnacle. I know I can not go wrong with a Ridgeback, but the other one I was considering has thornproof tyres, which is a major plus point for me in my country area.

Has anyone had any experience of either of these makes, and would I be all right buying the Pinnacle, even though this is a lesser known make?

Don't be too specific regarding make, the most important thing is the sizing & fit, and the quality of the bits bolted on the the frame.
