coffee machines

I want one of those one-cup jobbies that makes a good cappuccino, with pods, or whatever they're called.

not too expensive, not too big (storage issues), not too messy, not too pricey to get the replacement pods which have to be available in the supermarket. I like my coffee quite strong, so it has to taste good. Kenco Rich is my regular coffee.

any suggestions?

Being a coffee lover – my other half bought me a filter machine as a birthday pressie a few years back.
After a few uses, the machine went back in the box, never to be used again.

The reason for this is that it took too much time & trouble to make a cup, compared with instant coffee.

I happen to like the taste of instant coffee – so these machines cannot compete. Although there is a difference in flavour between instant coffee brands – with two heaped spoon-fulls in a mug, I have found any instant coffee will do.

My advice would be to ensure that you like the taste of the coffee produced by your chosen machine. Just because your new machine is using Kenco Rich, it will not be the same as the instant version (otherwise why spend £75 on the machine).

Kenco supply for Tassimo as do Carte Noire, Suchard, Milka & Twinnings (around £58 at the moment).

We've just bought a Tassimo but I'd have to concede that the Krups machines look nicer, downside is that they are slightly more expensive (£63 or thereabouts) and seem to be very limited on the pods (Dulce Gusto by Nescafe) you can buy.

We've got a tassimo and use it every day. Tesco stock a lot of the more popular pods, although there are some other pods that you can only get off the website. Its compact, easy to use, easy to clean and looks good. We previously had a filter/espresso/cappuccino machine that got neglected after a few months due to the hassle but that's not the case with the tassimo at all. highly reccomended!

thanks folks, I bought a Tassimo today, then stopped off for some supplies. I got the Kenco "caffe crema" but it came out as black coffee. is that right? it looked like white coffee on the packaging, and I made some assumptions based on the "crema" bit!

the crema is the swirly stuff on the top that tastes nice... you can still add milk to it if you want. I add a milk t-disc to most things to get hot frothy milk ;-)

my swirly stuff was lacking, lol! can you get separate milk pods then? I don't mind adding my own milk..

perhaps I should read the manual instead :o)

you can get milk pods that make frothy milk.... they come included with the milka hot choccie and the capuccino/latte packs but you can also but just the milk. I have noticed that some of the cream coffees have a better 'head' than others, if you see what I mean! If you go on the tassimo website they rate all their coffees under a few different taste headings so you'll soon be able to figure out which ones you will like and which ones you won't.
