Extra cards can then be added (at a small cost for those ofyou who are not in these categories) Go to the membership desk and read their big poster as to what you must bring (usually you must enter via the store exit - strange I know , but that's the way)
As for the day trip option, you can go in with a member (assuming you know one) quite happily. They don't even have to pay, but must present their card.

Costco is open to business and non trade members (ie the general public) you must purchase a 12 month membership card which costs �26.00 if memory serves me. You don't have to be affiliated with any group or body as mentioned in the previous answer, and yes you can go in and have a look around before you sign up. They will even let you buy so long as you sign up before you leave the store
In the UK you can obtain a "day pass" and you can buy goods, but you would pay a surcharge which I think is 5%. To become a member you need to be an employee or member of any one of a variety of organisations, eg an AA member, an insurance industry employee and so on. As drbsparks says you need to pay a fee which allows two cards. The fee is about �30.
