Christmas crackers

Is there any point in buying expensive christmas crackers. Yes the toys are not as cacky and the jokes marginally better and maybe the pop a bit louder. But it all ends up in the bin. So how can i counter a pernickity wife who says buy the most expensive one. does nayone else face this problem

We buy the DIY crackers and we all choose a small gift for each other to fit in the cracker. That way we all know we are going to get something (hopefully) that we like. Works very well..........so far.
