Unauthorised taking of money by Sky+ from my credit card
3 Answers
Some time ago (I can't remember when) I bought a Sky+ box. I must have paid for it by credit card. Now I have got my latest credit card statement saying that £89-99 has been taken TWICE by Nationwide Digital - which is the Sky+ company. This money has been taken without my authorisation. Do I have any chance of stopping the transaction and getting my money (£179-98) back?

You need to contact your credit card provider and let them know that you dispute the relevant charge. They will send you paperwork to fill in and return – once they receive it, they will contact the company and decide whether the payment is valid or not.
If they decide in your favour – your card account will be credited with the relevant amount.
To show that the charge was valid, your credit card company will want proof of supply of a service/goods, including proof that you ordered the goods/service.
I have successfully recovered incorrect hotel charges made against my credit card – for extra nights that I did not stay at the hotel.

Thanks Aberrant and Hymie. My credit card provider has told me that I must cut up my existing card, fill in the forms that they are sending me. My new card will arrive in 7 days. They said that Nationwide Digital is some sort of insurance, but I have no recollection of taking out any insurance. If it is anything to do with my Sky+ box, I could buy a new one for less than that anyway. There is too much trickery with companies these days and too much cold calling on the telephone. It should be banned.
