37" lcd television

Anybody recommend a good make. My sister bought Sony and I dont like the Freeview she has with it - when you turn station you get an information banner at the top of screen telling you what the programme is about. I turn over and over on my own old television and therefore this info banner would slow me down. Appreciate any answers.

By the way the banner cannot be taken off.

I have a Sony Bravia and the banner can be removed by pressing the little round button under the blue button

Most TV Channels have small banners usually top left of screen to let viewers know what channel they are watching. Sony is a top brand and no matter what make of TV you buy the banner will not go away !!

Janbee I dont have access to her remote control but I have printed a copy of her remote which of course is black and white - whereabouts is the blue button - I will look at hers when I get over to town. Thanks for your answer. Also that is exactly what she has a Sony Bravia

fao lucy thomas - she does not have Sky - only Freeview feature in the Sony tv.

fao redman41 - the banner is right across the whole screen - I would not like that at all - I myself have Sky but I can hit a button a get a synopsis when I want.

the remote has a round button on the top right hand corner, below that is another bar button, below that is the blue button (also the shape of a little bar) and below that bar is the little round button which will remove the banner.(or display the prog details if that's what is wanted)

Know what you are referring to now. Yes LucyThomas is on the right lines.There is a programme info button which you activate but it has nothing to do with the brand of the TV.

No, only for that prog you are watching. Every time you change channels it appears again but can be removed again. If left unattended, it will go on its own after approx 10 seconds or so.

thanks janbee for your answer - I think I found that out myself when she got the TV about 3 or 4 weeks ago and like that you can only take off the banner for that programme. No I definitely would not like that. I would like it off for good on every station. The bigger one goes re everything the more things become complex. I will hold on to my old tv for the moment. Thanks for your answers to everyone. But you still did not recommend the make - Only Janbee - I guess one is as good as the other.

Buy a Sony LCD TV Connemmara ! I have one and it is superb !

I have a Sony Bravia 40'' LCD HDTV Model No KDL40W4000 and it is superb and is everything the reviewers said it was.
There is a newer Model on the market as that is progress, but if you buy a top brand then you cannot go far wrong.

I bought a Sony a few years ago and it packed up after 18 months. I know it was probably just a dud, but you can`t beat Panasonic.

to 2337J - I agree - I loved the Panasonic too - thought it was terrifc picture.

I have a Panasonic Viera - everyone says they have never seen a better picture on any other TV.
