gel that swells

i am looking for the jelly stuff you can put in vases that keep flowers and plants watered for 2-3 weeks it comes in various colours and swells when you put water with it, have looked on e-bay but would rather go into a shop so i can see the colours in the flesh.

You can buy the clear gel in almost any garden centre, some supermarkets and places like Poundland and Wilkinsons, I'm not sure if you can add something like food colouring to get it to the colour you wish as you would then have a problem with the flowers or plants taking up the water and risk the flowers changing colour (which is a great thing to do if you mean to do it, but I guess you wouldn't be very happy if it wasn't intentional!)
