However, I came across this on a web site:
"Buxom, top-heavy women should look for cocktail dresses that will accentuate their legs. Wearing colors that are solid would help give this illusion. A short cocktail skirt would also draw attention to the legs. Currently, there are numerous dresses available with lengths that come to right above the knee"

apple shaped means exaclty that...rounded in the middle and smaller top and bottom.
you appear to be a more of a triangle shape
dont wear anything with puffy sleeves and preferably no sleeves at all...unless perhaps you have fat arms and wish to hide them a bit
its hard to say without actually seeing your shape as it can mean a variety of things
is ther anyone famous you would say you were shaped like?

A V neck, or shoestring straps if you have nice arms and no bingo wings, otherwise maybe lacy 3/4 sleeves, never a high, round neck and nothing to accentuate the bosom like frills or drapes. Plain as possible and can be tighter fitting around the bottom half as you are smaller there and can accentuate that. Black safest bet and nice high heels.
