Sorry if this is in the wrong place, But does anyone know when the car booting season starts?

I'm not an afficianado, but i would guess that around now would be good - the nights and mornings are getting lighter, it is getting warmer (in theory at least) and the drier conditions reduces the chances of everyone finishing up to their axles in mud!

I reckon they will start properly at Easter time (weather dependent) - Last weekend of March is when clocks go back and this is also Easter Sunday.

I know in Norfolk there are some happening already

Theres one locally by me (also in norfolk!) that runs all year - didnt know there was a season..

So.... being an American, I know that the bonnet is the hood of the car and the boot must be the trunk, but what in the world is 'bonnet season'?

Clanad - the equivalent would be a garage sale - but you have lots of people (beteen 40 -200) all turn up at a school playing field, large carpark or similar and sell all their 'junk' from tables they place in front of their cars.

They usually happen on a Sunday morning and can start as early as 6am and continue on until around 2pm. Lots of bargains to be had, but also lots of rubbish to sort through.

Some poeple go there to get rid of their stuff at cheap prices because they will just throw it away, some people go to make money - 'traders'. Some of them have market style businesses, some will just buy junk to sell at carboots.

All very English and great fun!

Car Boots are advertised in our local paper all year round.

Also, I suppose it all depends on whether they are on a hard standing surface, otherwise you'd all get stuck in the mud!

Thank you, Oneeyedvic... we also have flea markets where 'bargains' are to be had.  The garage sales are more than likely to be just one individual home, although sometimes several homes in the neighborhood have them concurrently... (and your name has to be 'veddy British')
