Good Afternoon All,

We received an email from a concerned pensioner today. His message seemed like it was intended for Tesco, so we asked if we could publish it on The AnswerBank. He kindly agreed.

We present a rather charming letter to Tesco:

TESCO SHOCK 209 % PET FOOD
PRICE JUMP

By Al Gordon, Forest PRICE WATCH

TESCO Fordingbridge today put up the price of Sheba 100gram cat food by 209 per cent - from 20p on Monday to 61p this morning.

Pensioners like myself need to buy AT LEAST 1 tin a day for 1 cat

Although, being a sucker for felines, I've got two.

So my weekly cat food bill jumps from £1.20 to £4.27 for one cat

But most cats need one and a half tins per day plus a healthy dollop of Purina dry biscuit food.

That makes it £6.40 a week for 1 cat (£2.10 on Monday)

£12.80 - for 2 cats (£4.40 on Monday).

Shame on you Tesco.

Miaw hisses my Siamese cat Caesar.

Miaw hisses his sister Cleopatra.

Perhaps they are hoping the cat owners will buy shop branded goods instead ?
Tesco, shame on you!!
I thought that sounded cheap Helen, but not having cats had no idea.

Ah it looks as if they were getting 20p per 100 gms, it was unusual.
After a quick look on internet cheapest I can find is 59p.......
Tigger & Blue don't like anything other than Felix As Good as it Looks and the little tins of Gourmet which is all very expensive. If I tried to give them Tesco's own stuff they'd probably starve. Stoopid cats!
well there is always Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Morrisons etc or some second quality mince from over the counter.
sheba's on offer at our tesco's extra, 2 for 3 which works out at 20p each but i'm convinced that was a mistake as they are normally 5 for £2.00
and a wee trout poached from the River Test.

As Mrs_O to cook it - she is poaching wild salmon from her river tonight (wit Tea Time thread).

A pair of Siamese cats? I wonder how much they cost him?

:o)
he may have had their parents too so possibly nothing? luchily my two have settled well on asda own brand dry complete, they have a box a week between them, they never seem hungry and there is always food down. I tried them on the tinned gourmet and ordinary cat meat but they both seemed to leave it, tryed iams and they seemed to get bored with it and leave it, so when i tried this i expected the same but they have alwats eaten it and it;s been about 8 weeks now since i first got it, it's £1.09 a box and last all week so very very cheap especially for 2 cats
my late cat...sob..sob...would only eat whiskas or grilled chicken/liver....
Common sense, anybody? The 20p was either a mistake (we all make them) or an extra special offer. Hardly fair to criticise when the price returns to it's normal level.
