Painted Fibreglass Animals In Cities
16 Answers
This summer there were decorated Gromits (of Wallace and Gromit) in Bristol, a couple of years ago, gorillas. I know other cities have them, but can't seem to find details of them. Does anyone know of any upcoming painted animals, or how to find out about them.

A few years ago , a lot of fibreglass cows appeared in London. These were paid for by individuals. The money went to charity. The idea was Swiss. Some of them, decorated by notable artists, were sold for charity at Christies and fetched considerable sums. Newmarket recently had a few fibreglass horses which, I believe, were under a similar scheme; Newmarket, unlike Switzerland, is not noted for cows!

We had lions in 2011 and we still have the 'Jon Egging' lion that was standing outside the town hall when he was killed and was the focal point for the floral tributes. Someone donated about £4000 to buy it and it's getting a plinth so it can stand outside the town hall every year during the summer.

There's nothing listed for 2014 yet but if you email them they might tell you where future events are currently being planned.
