That looks really good, sunny-dave.  We eat in the evening, but I have boeuf bourgignon on the go (inc. baby onions, mushrooms & smoked bacon - and red wine, obviously!).  I'm trying to make up my mind how to do the potatoes to go with it, possibly diced and sauteed, along with broccoli and thinly sliced carrots.

That looks delicious.

Think I am going to do a roast chicken with roast spuds, parsnips, beetroot and garlic and possibly some ratatouille out the freezer.

Alternative is ravioli with pumpkin and amaretto.  I have not decided yet.

I just had some savoury biscuits, some with pate and some with cheese. Followed by a huge nectarine which, although ripe and juices, was a little lacking in taste. Then a slice of bran cake.

tonight is yesterdays leftover chicken and leek casserole.

Hi jourdain, where do you'd get your baby onions please. James Martin keeps saying you can buy frozen ones but I can't find them.

Sorry to interrupt your thread Dave, hope you and Gness are both well x

That does look very nice, sunny-dave. We are having chilli and rice and possibily some cheesecake if there's any room left.

That looks good, s-d - I've never tried asparagus.

I can very rarely be bothered to actually create something, so this evening will be fish, chips & mushy peas from the freezer & a tin.  Alas, the drinks cupboard is empty 😭

I cheated and did the prep last night as I knew I'd be tight (ahem) for time today - the ham is from Lidl & worked better than Parma Ham - easier to work with & crisped up very nicely.

I'm firmly with Shirley Conran, on this, "Life's too short to stuff a mushroom!" 😁

Mrs JtH is in the kitchen whizzing up a butternut squash, sweet potato and ginger soup and has a pineapple sponge cake rising nicely in the oven.

I'm not sure what we will be having between those two but it will be accompanied by glasses of J20 Apple and watermelon 'spritz'.

All good here, thanks Margo - please everyone just fire away - it's not my thread just a general chat 😀

Hi Margo T - can't help, sorry.  This particular lot came out of our small veg. plot. We had new fences built a couple of weeks ago (the storm really finished the old one's off) and the whole area had to be cleared, so it was dug over afterwards ready for Spring.  This lot were just the tiny ones which emerged.  Tasty though.

I'd like to know where to buy them too - outside the pickling season when hey are easily available in supermarkets.

Ah! I though this must be your regular thread as I saw you mention it on another thread. These sort of conversations are always popular and civilised. It's nice to exchange ideas when you find you are cooking the same thing all too often and I love trying people's wine suggestions. I'm rubbish at picking wine.

Trad Sunday dinner here. Roast chicken dinner and apple crumble with custard

Not lunch - we eat at night - but roast beef here - no pudding ever - unless we have guests.

Margo, I got a bag of baby onions in Sainsburys, they have quite a long use by date, and have kept very well stored in a dark cupboard.

Ubasses & jourdain sorry for late reply went for a spot of lunch and had a bit of an old dear's nap 😴 James was talking about frozen onions (a bit like cocktail ones in jars) but I've never found them
