I fancy trying something new and maybe enrolling in a new class. I should do something useful like learn a new language but as I work bl00dy hard at my job I fancy something completely different and not classroom based.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking dancing or something arty but I'd like something unusual!

Family History is always a good choice, it can keep you on the computer or take you around the world, and it is something that is worthwhile, as you can connect with people you have not been in touch with for years and share your research
drama workshops! I do this and it's a fantastic way of unwinding and being a bit childish! It works wonders for me after a day having to be sensible and vigilant at school doing learning support all day. Apart from learning acting skills it helps self confidence and you get to play games too...
Bird watching or walking - there should be local groups. If you're into beer how about joining CamRA? They will have a local group who meet up in different pubs to sample the ale!
I do Argentine Tango, Spanish, card making, knitting, gardening....

loads of stuff out there you can teach yourself or go to organised classed for.

have fun!!
Salsa or Belly dancing classes, there is loads of info of classes for both on the net.
Take up bellringing. It gives you exercise, and makes the brain work. You will be welcomed in Towers all over the country and meet people from all walks of life. It may take a while to learn how to handle a bell depending on yourself really. You don't have to be a Church goer. Check with your local Church with a ring of bells. Or, E-mail me I may be able to help.

i did an interior design course, it was so much fun actually learning and its really quite fun measuring your own house out just to put it on paper and play around with ideas. you could even end up making some good money!!

its 2 x 1 week in studio (ok if you can get the time off), with 4 weeks in between home studying and i went to the nda in nottingham. i know you said not classroom based, but its not the typical teacher talking at you type of learning!!
