space freefall

read in the paper this morning that the first space paracute jump will be in two years, freefalling from 240km up in a specially designed suit, is this the extreme sport of the future & who would do it?

apparently you'd be coming in somewhere in the spped region of a meteorite, so i'd probably pass, 'average joe' will be able to do it in 2020

i'd love to give it a go - slowed down to a leisurely 120 miles an hour by the earths atmosphere from an insanity inducing 2500 miles an hour... i'll give it a go BUT i'm not volunteering to be the first to try it

The terminal velocity of a skydiver in freefall is about 200 km/h. Given that (we would hope) the last say 2km would be by parachute, I couldn�t think of a better way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon. Well, the Mrs naked and Arsenal on the TV would come close�..

done 16 bungie jumps and 5 parachute jumps and a few abbsales, read about that one as well wishwell, sounds good but dont think that I will quite be up for that one though...

Not me for a start! I did a parachute jump, partly to raise money and I was drunk when I said I'd do it and partly to try an extreme method of curing my fear of heights. It didn't work!
