You mean of the same group or person?
I would say 8 or more. Instead of saying 'I have 8 Tom Jones albums' you can say 'I have a collection of albums by Tom Jones.
I don't think there is a set number, it's just the way it's said. It sounds better I think.

I meant a collection of numerous groups/singers.
I collect records,but just wanted an opinion what would constitute a "collection"

he has everything by bowie,the stones,the beatles,the kinks,the who,the hollies,meat loaf,i could go on but i think you get my drift,i have seen his collection so i can vouch for it,it takes up 1 whole room plus some of his living room.

years ago I knew a millionaire and visited his house.He invited me into his library and I expected to see four walls covered in books.what I saw was a small book rack on a coffee table with six books.

11,000 albums jeez - I have worked in record shops for over 8 years and adore music but I must ony own maybe 50 cds and a couple of thousand mp3s. I am now very jealous.
