I am making a play table for a 3 year old in soft wood and will need to paint it in bright colours, what is a safe paint to use, and where can i get it . many thanks

I painted some wooden toy boxes for my son in normal emulsion paint, it has lasted a long time without any coming off and i am pretty sure its safe for them.
