what happened to the remaining few ? there were some guys who remained in their "teddy outfits"+ flourescent sox and brothel creepers for the rest of their time on earth, remember a pal who said her wedding photos would be awful because her uncle still dressed as one.
Seen any around lately or have they all passed on ?

I would love to see that, bless them, all wrinklies in their original suits, my mum wouldnt let me go out with one , he knocked at the door she took one look and shut door again !
My brother was a teddy boy and he's not an OAP yet (or deceased). Must ask if he still has his suit and brothel creepers but methinks they have long gone to that "bad fashion" warehouse in the sky!
Gig on at the end of this month in Manchester

Hello Dee, my brother was a Teddy Boy, I remember my Mam going ballistic at his long jacket with the scarlet lining and drainpipe trousers, he enlisted in the Army soon after, Dad said he went in as a lad and came out as a man.

Hi Bobbi glad you had a good holiday.
Who started the Teddy boy craze ? I remember sewing a velvet collar on my coat & jacket [ only had one of each !].
Also I was mad about Frankie Laine & Johnny Ray my mum being thrifty as ever knitted me a sweater and embriodered one name on the front and t'other on the back and I had to turn the jumper round , she said no to two seperate knits !
Fashion cults like Teddy Boys don't 'start', they just evolve. It only takes two or three people to develop a distinctive style, and if people like it, they adopt it. This has been the same with every youth cult from the mid-1950's onwards. That was roughly the time when the post-war generation had disposable income and a different set of attitudes created by being born and raised in a time of peace, as opposed to a time of either war, or the austerity caused by war.
