Why do they call people with ginger hair carrot top when the top of the carrot the bit that sticks out of the ground is green?

'Top' would probably refer to the person rather than the carrot.

The 'top' does not refer to the top of a carrot but the top of the head where the hair is. Ginger hair, carrot top.

  what ever........i think its nasty, there is nothin wrong with ginger ppl, i am 1, and i think our colour hair is beatiful. we are a dying race and need to be kept alive
