What is the most outrageous lie you have ever told or ever heard of? (I could lie and say I need to know for important research but really it's because I'm dead nosy).

Harold Wilson once said 'Devaluing the pound will not affect the pound in your pocket'.
Tony Blair et al once said Sadam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction that could be deployed against British interests within 45 Minutes.
A one-time friend told me he lived in a quiet fishing village, in a villa with terracotta floor tiles. It turned out he lived in a council flat in a grotty city estate. He had a good laugh, feeling he had fooled me, but I never trusted him again. I just felt a fool and lost respect for him. I don't know why some people do that.
Not good at telling lies - I always blush and often hesitate too much.
When i was young and my brother was younger I put a bit of our cats fur in a copy of the Bible that was on the shelf and I told him it was a bit of Jesus' beard. I told him all Bibles had a bit in.
Probably lying to get off sick one time as i went to alton towers with a group of my mates and forgot to book the day off a few years ago. I told them i had to go hospital for unforseen circumstances and wouldn't tell them what it was as it was personal. I felt guilty but i had a wicked day out.

Mmmm good question thikasabrik!

Because my Mum always told me "If you tell lies, you will always be found out in the end", so I've always been up front with people. If I've ever felt the need to 'lie', I just kept my trap shut instead!

CiderMonkey - your 'lie' really made me laugh!

P.S. There is one I can think of though - well there isn't really a 'Father Christmas' is there?

people who use this site have real friends

many a time i've told my parents i'm going to stay at a friend's house when actually i've been doing something else...

a "friend" of mine once invented a boyfriend, along with telling all sorts of other outrageous inconsistent lies that were totally unbelievable and came in many different versions. thankfully i don't see her anymore.
