Why is it that the pubs of this chain always attract trouble and fights? I've been to about 8 Yates in various parts of the country and its the same story. Why does anyone go there anyway, with the rude staff, plastic food, deafening music, dirty tables, etc?

It's not just Yates although their establishments stand out for all the reasons mentioned.  I notice an Oz chain called 'Walkabout' attracts the same sort of lets-get-legless-asap crowd.  Chains of any sort that go out to attract youngsters know that there is mega-money to be made in providing a place where the punters can do as they like for hours on end, and that they need spend very little  on decor.  A quick mop up of spilt booze and a hose round the loos will do before the next binge session.  No customers will complain, will they?
