We were too shy to skinny dip, so we swam in our skvvies. When we got out, there was no sense going home in wet drawers, so we tossed them on the banks. From then on, we boys just went skinny dipping all the way.
Nearly forty years ago, when I was eighteen, I overturned my Morris Minor 1000 (bit difficult to imagine I know) on an icy bend.
The upshot was that my door was ripped off and I was ejected as the car rolled (no seat belts in those days). I was uninjured and walking about in my stocking feet when the police arrived. They eventually found my shoes in the car (not slip-ons, proper lace-up ones). So it is possible that other items of clothing could go missing at accident sites.
