ok, not much help there but i know it exists as my uncle used to have to deal with the grasscutting contract at the college and one day took me as a 10 year old to see these tunnels and walk about them cos even he was blown away (think i remember a derelict ballroom underground but not sure)
i have a strong feeling the college begins with a W so i hope this helps u on a bit of research into it, i fancy looking myself now so if i see anything on google i will post it
I can't do anything clever in giving you the website link but just key in : Subterranea Britannica on your browser (I did on my hotmail home page) and lots of info. will come up. They are a good crowd to join and you would be amongst like minded souls. It is an organisation devoted to the exploration of man-made underground places. You will be surprised at how many there are.
More accessible than things I have explored with Sub.Brit. are the available tunnels at Dover Castle, the Hell-Fire caves at West Wycome to name but two. With Sub.Brit I viewed the tunnels under Manchester, Bristol ..stone quarries under Bath....oh , hosts of things.
