And apologies if i'm being coarse, but as they have to touch "it" anyway, why don't they just sit down and direct it downwards straight into the pan, and voila, no spills or splashes !!!!
jno, IMO, the loo definitely looks neater with its seat down .... after all, why does it have a seat if not to sit on.
It's not onerous as such to put the seat down but I'd rather not have to touch it .... I know my loos at home are kept clean (by me I might add, everyone else is oblivious to the state of it) but hate using other people's loos and having to touch the seat.
Why can't we all put both the seat and the lid down - then we'd all have to lift and lower everytime.
Live and let live.
Also I think feng shui says that if you leave the lid up all your wealth will disappear down the toilet. Not sure if that will affect anyone though.
Whoever cleans the loo should have the say.
I knew a couple once who had a Victorian blue/white patterned loo in one corner of their bedroom (can't recall if there was a bee pattern) with NO seat or cover fixed. Problem solved.
Off thread a bit: Can't sit on seats of public loos The other day on TV a doctor was saying this half-standing/crouching for women peeing is very bad. We risk bladder infections as the bladder is not fully emptied from that position.
