Is it just coincidental (sp?) That people with the same name have similar personality traits. For example I know 3 Richards and I cant stand either of them for the same reasons. They all seem to be know it alls who have to undermine people. I know other people with same names who are also just like each other. Its weird.

People called Nigel are boring. I know two Richards, both really good guys, and a bit mad.
All Matthew's/Matt's I've met have been gorgeous.
agree with you about the Matts, Carolg. Same goes for all emmas ;-) All blokes called Dave tend to be cheeky
i know alot of steve's who are preatty boys- not gay just into thier looks. and i seem to have a thing for irish people. i never noticed till my friend pointed it out, all by boyfriends had irish last names, and played some kind of instroment!

Yes, ems, I've noticed that about Daves.
Similar character traits with the same name, but not similar if called by another form of that name i.e. shortened like Catherine=Cathy/Katy/Kate, David=Dave, Elizabeth=Liz, etc. and use of nickname as in Richard/Dick, Ted/Edward. For ex. I get on excellently with all Catherines (wonder why!) but don't hit it off at all with lasses, women or ladies called Cath. I have never gone as far as comparing the spelling of the name, i.e. Catherine w/ 'C' or 'K', Cathrin, Kathryn... Anyone notived anything there?

Both children and dogs called Ben seem to be completely mad and uncontrollable / untrainable.
Before I had children and before I knew any 'Ben's' I thought I would call my son Ben - luckily I only had girls.
Matt's - What? Like the gorgeous Matt Lucas?
Richard - All the blokes called Richard I know are absolutely lovely, except one who's a complete fistmagnet.
Nigel - I would have thought Nigel Hawthorne was quite an interesting bloke. Ditto Nigel Planer. etc etc

Surely this is just crass stereotyping? You can't seriously believe a name given at a few weeks old can conceivably influence someone's character.

Are all Waldo's cynics?
silly moo I know exactly what you mean about Bens!

it is the person that matters, not their name, but its uncanny that elgroucho said Nigels are boring. Because I knew a Nigel who was - who was, well not boring, but more of a do-it-by-the-book  type.

Perhaps they're all Ricks with a silent 'P'.

I know a Nigel who is definitely not boring.............

Just thought I would let you know!  Weird thread this!!

I personally don't believe - in fact I vehemently resent - the accusation that all Bens are uncontrollable.

*runs around wildly smashing all the crockery in a fit of rage*

All girls who go out with me beginning with the letter L end up hurting me greatly. (Although in fairness, there have only been two and they make up about 50% of my love life...)

LOL  Indie.   Most Ben's I know are really lovely, but slightly mad!
All the Johns I know are all, well a little bit odd.
Thinking about it., Waynes and Lisas set me on edge but everyone ought to be judged on their initial merits.
UM:What about WellHungjocks name!!milly143( :)

I agree that Ben = untrainable.

However, my favourite Nigel is not boring.

Any comments on the following names (just out of interest):

Jacqueline

Annie

Linda

Norman

Jacquelines are ladylike, Linda's are raunchie, Annie's are nearly all mad and Norman's are obstinate.

The Annie I know is totally off her rocker, doesn't stop talking and is absolutely A-DORA-BLE!
