It's snowing - again.
Wish I had a proper, old-fashioned duffle coat.

I think coats such has Parka's sort of took over plowter.
They are still around, but all the ones I've seen are pricey.
Much cheaper to buy an anorak type.
Duffle coats are back in fashion. Have you been walking about with your eyes closed?
Duffle coats still exist but they're incredibly expensive, long gone are the days of a cheap duffle coat.
Off topic, we were coming home yesterday at the end of the school day, it was snowing and yet the pupils still had no outdoor coats on. I know the problem of storing stuff in school but when the temp is zero, surely they can manage for a few days to carry a warm coat around!
Used to be cloakrooms when I was at school zebo, don't they have them anymore ?.
No cloak rooms anymore.
Why not ummmm, whats happened to them.
Can't say I'd ever really considered one before, must say these do look rather nice and warm though, maybe next winter.

I'm nothing to do with that company btw!
Yes but this an example of the nostaglia for an item being better than the reality - once they were wet they were a devil to dry
Better to get a berghaus
I think we left primary school and our mummies didn't buy us one any more.
Cloakrooms in school - a place to steal from; a place to hide and smoke; a place where many attacks took place (oh sorry, 'schoolboy bullying').
Some schools now have lockers, many simply put the onus on the pupil caring for their own gear. So lugging a nice wooly fuddle coat around is a bit of a drag when you can screw up a hoodie and stuff it in your bag.
Good point about them getting wet, maybe not so useful in the UK then, think I'll stick with my leather coat!
Tony, like mosaic says, stuff would just get nicked, especially now the kids are into their labels.
i'm selling one on ebay.....x
Righto mosaic thanks.
Duffle coats are very much back in fashion and I bought one in December. Mind you, they are very expensive now !
went the same way as gaberdene macs with that tick belt I used to have to wear to primary school with my mittens on elastic so all the bullies pinged me, lol! Those were the days.

Ah, parkas, with the fake nylon fur around the hood.

You're right about nostalgia. Can never forget the smell of a wet duffle coat or how hard it was to get the snot off the sleeves. Happy days.
