What is your favourite viewpoint in this country? I can give you mine but would like to hear yours. Mine are; the view from the top of Wittenham Clumps, the view from Roman Camp in the Malverns, the "Waterloo Sunset", the view from the top of Littledean Hill.

Birdlip on the A417 is a great view over Gloucester. At night, on a clear night it is lit up. Lovely. Also, the Elan Valley in mid Wales has some stunning scenery from up on the dams. Uffington White Horse is way up and on a good day can see for miles and miles all around. It even has one of those 'Oxford is this way and is so many miles' stones up there. Great for flying kites too!
I was referring to the Cathedral when talking about 'it' in Gloucester.
For me nothing tops the views from any peak in the lake district.
I love the view from Clee(?) Hill looking down to Cheltenham,I hope this is right. If not will some Cotswolders correct me!
PS I forgot my local best view. This from Rye in East Sussex, looking across Romney Marsh to the sea, with Dungeness Nuclear Power Station glowing green in the distance! LOL
Isle of Iona (North end) when the sun is setting on a clear summer's evening.
I'd agree with Kev, looking down from Kirkstone pass towards lake Ullswater, fantastic. Or the view over windemere from the Inn on the lake
Top of Ben Nevis where I was yesterday, there are no words to describe the view.
The best view of England has to be from a galaxy far far away! Or as they say across the border - Wales - Gd's Heaven with neighbours from hell - lol and by the way I am only teasing so please dont get offended! :-

I can think of lots of 'best views' in England - but locally - sitting at Dunstable Downs on a sunny, breezy day, watching the gliders, hang-gliders, kites & birds, is one of my favourite viewpoints.

Thanks for the answers people, though I'm not certain about the Welsh and Scottish ones. Don't take me the wrong way, there are outstanding views in both countries which take my breath away (Tenby beach on a hot day, Rhossili, Lake Vrynwy, Edinburgh from North Bridge, etc, etc) but I wanted to get a feel for the best views in England as I suspect that this will provide more interesting answers, simply because there are a lot of less abvious places.
OBonio's right about Birdlip hill - a stunning view. I love the view from the top of Ditchling Beacon in Sussex, the whole of the Weald stretches before you: wonderful. Or how about views from railway viaducts: the Balcombe one in Sussex never ceases to delight me as does the viaduct on the Settle-Carlisle line.
And for an urban vista, you can't beat the view at night from the top of Tower 42 (Nat West tower) in London - a chance to see London in all its majesty.
From inside The Old Red Lion.
Standing in Scotland and looking in.
