What a great question. I graduated from Sussex Uni eleven years ago and liked the place so much have never left.

Sussex uni and Brighton share the village of Falmer just north of the city. Brighton Uni however have a few smaller buildings more towards the centre. Absolutely fantastic nightlife and daytime fun to be had in Brighton. Enjoy.

I question why anybody would want to go to Wales. G

Ward-Minter, Is this racism? Im Welsh born and bred and damn well proud of it!  Who on earth are you to look down your nose at a country which you've probably never visited. Let me reassure you,Wales is a beautiful place with some of the most spectacular scenery. If you ever "lowered yourself" enough to come to Wales you would find both a wonderful country with very friendly people. Your not Anne Robinson are you?

'I question why anybody would want to go to Wales' - to get away from people who say things like that!
Great answer Ward  shame you spoilt it with the last line...........'n waeldyd Saesneg

Well Fina I apologise if you are Welsh. I suppose it is not your fault.

Unfortunately I have visited Wales many times. I even lived there for 4 months. However, during these times I had my car stolen THREE times, I got mugged, got started on in a local pub for being English and banned from the village shop for no reason!!

To relax I went boating in Bala lake and got a speeding ticket??????????? Got arrested for alleged poaching and met a girl whose brothers then beat me up for being English.

Further I haved played Rugby almost my entire life and the only two times I have been hospitalised were due to Welshmen stamping on my head.

So yes I have had a bad experience of Welsh people and the place. I personally found them to be the most ignorant, inbred and arrogant folk I have ever met. However, the scenery as you stated is rather nice. I think Scotland has the edge but thats probably due to the climatic conditions settling over the hills. So there.

I live in Brighton and recently went on holiday in Aberystwyth and as a town I'd go for Brighton every time. It's basically larger, less shabby and more diverse.

I would also like to say that this has nothing to with England V Wales. Just a personal preference.

Ward-minter, Im sorry you were the recipient of such appalling behaviour in Wales. Maybe it was your attitude to the welsh that brought about the beatings etc? I do NOT condone any violence or predudice, however have you forgotten the drunken, violence in football matches by the english which was broadcast worldwide? Dont tar us all with the same brush please!

LOL! Thanks guys... sorry to have caused an argument. :) I still need to visit both campuses anyway, just wanted a general feel from people.
A friend of mine studied at Aber for 5 years and I loved going to visit. I studied in Manchester so the change in going to the coast was lovely, but my mate said it could get a bit close after a few months as you are miles from anywhere. I went back for a holiday a year ago and there are lots more student bars now, plus nightclubs (no more waiting all week for the Up Top Bop on Campus or Saturday nights at the footie club). Most of the seafront at Aber is, I think, still owned by the Uni and so many of  the halls are right on the prom. Imagine studying with nothing but a view of the sea, and taking your hangovers to a beach which is rarely packed with people. I love Aberystwyth, but Brighton (which I have never visited) may be your scene if you like a large and varied nightlife. I ought to point out that I am English and visit mid-Wales between 2-6 times each year and over the past 16 years of doing so have never been beaten up, had anything stolen, or been abused for being English. Its wonderful. Rhyl is a dump, mind.
Glossupswift, Thank you for you input. I know 4 students at Aber Uni. One is chinese, the others are english and love the view from inside!. 2 of these are female and have never experienced anything bad from anyone. The same goes for the males plus they've all made several welsh friends. No one has any complaints of beatings, abuse etc due to being english:---))
