germany traffic lights !!

i just return from a 2 week trip around germany. Apart from there strange taste for paprika crisps the most odd thing i n0oticed was they have 2 red men on there traffic lights !! why ! surely one is sufficient ? can anyone shed some light on this ?

I only skimmed it and it doesn't seem to explain what you saw, but I'm not sure :0)

I found one reference though when I did a wiki search in Danish. Apparently they have used two red men in a Danish city called Odense. They did this because of some very serious accidents where the red lights had been broken, so they put two red men up so if one was broken the other would (hopefully) work! Could be the same for Germany...

yeh i reckon thats a good reason, thanks very much, you have no idea how much it troubled me when i was there !! and theres nothing wrong with paprika crisps its just when theres nothing else and they down your chips in it too !!
