Just around the corner from me somebody has put their Christmas lights up already!

I was once a member of a committee which could not settle on a date for our annual Christmas dinner, because everybody had other commitments. Eventually we booked it for June. The staff were very good, and laid on crackers, funny hats etc., but could not understand which Christmas we were celebrating.

I want to as well - it's my little girl's first Christmas and I can't wait to see her face when we put all the twinkly lights on!

One of my mates wound his aunty up good style once - she forgot to take her deccies down on the 6th January. This is meant to be bad luck, so he told her that to cancel it out she'd need to leave them up until Easter! She nearly did too - it was the beginning of February before someone told her and spoiled it all.

They are not christmas lights Ding Dong they are lights for Diwali the hindu festival. Are the family asian or hindu. If they are then the lights will come down in a few days. let us know.

I am really keen to know if Muslims in Britain celebrate diwali as muslims in India do have a token celebration in that their children buy fireworks and have a great time.

It's being celebrated here in Liverpool. In Matta's (my fave shop) there's all the gorgeous sweets on sale, like the utterly yum and sickly Gulab Jamun.

Dom - I know absolutely nothing about the Diwali festival, and in fact, just to really show my ignorance, until you posted earlier, I'd never even heard of Diwali..................................however, unless the Diwali festival celebrates Father Christmas, snowmen and Rudolph, I'd definitely say they were Christmas lights!!!

The pub where we used to enter a weekly quiz had their tree and decorations up in the middle of the heatwave in JULY! There is also a store in Blackpool that has a permanent window display of snowmen, Santa and reindeer,.
