Good days out in Somerset?

I live in Taunton and my inlaws live in birmingham , when they come down I cant think of anywhere to take them. Sad isnt it. We always end up going to Street, we did do wookey hole this weekend tho. What could i do with them bearing in mind I have two young children, howevver i dont want anything theme parkish. we could stretch to surrounding counties but it has to be suitable for mum in law who has mild walking difficulties nothing major but no 10 mile hikes please

Digerland at Cullumpton in Devin (Junction 28 M5). Good fun for young and old driving JCBs and other diggers. I loved it and i'm 55. Cheapest was to do it the gift token which gives you unlimited rides and four of your friends access to the machines.

Try a visit to the linked villages of Lynton and Lynmouth. They're connected by a WATER-powered cliff railway system and well worth a visit....not too much walking involved.
Also a few years back we spent a very enjoyable few hours at an original cider producer....if I remember correctly it was Wilkes Farmyard Cider not too far away from Taunton.....to this day events remain hazy... but by jings the scrumpy was marvellous.

The West Somerset Railway is very interesting. There are no services during November (except 27th, as below) but if your in-laws are visiting during the run-up to Christmas, then I'm sure everyone (especially the children) would enjoy riding on one of the Santa Steam Specials. These run on the following dates: Sun 27/11, then Sat & Sun for the first three weekends in December, plus Thurs 22/11, Fri 23/11 & Sat 24/11. I would recommend Stourhead, but the walk is a bit long. I think they have a shorter walk though, and the views there are lovely from any angle. Don't know what it would be like at his time of year either. Maybe one to save up for a summer visit...

Get down to your local tourist information office, sure they'll have lots of leaflets and ideas for you.
I'd try Trago Mills (just by the A38 at Newton Abbot - a HUGH shop (cheap aswell) but with a few rides (like a little steam train) to keep the little ones amused. Or how about Lyme Regis or Exeter (go up to the cafe in Debenhams for the best view in Exeter, you don't have to eat there, they have a special viewing window).
