Is there anyway to see who lives at a certain address? I figure that the electoral roll will carry this information, but every website I've found wants to charge silly money for it - I don't have the persons surname but do have their full address.

You can see the electoral register for free at the nearest Post Office to the address - or at least you used to be able to a few years ago.

If you don't get success try the local library.

If the address is a long way away from you will have to balance the travel cost with the online cost - and how much you really want the information.

The full Electoral Register is held at the local electoral registration office (or council office) and holds details of all those who have registered to vote. Not registered, not on the list.
By law, the local authority has to make the electoral register available for anyone to look at (in person).

An edited register exists which can be bought by any person, company or organisation. When a person registers to vote they can choose not to be on this list, therefore you have no guarantee of tracing this person using the edited list.

Post Offices in general don't have the electoral roll any more (because they would have to pay for their copy - that's what my local postmaster told me)

A library or the council offices in the area of the address is your best bet. You could try phoning - I don't know whether they would give the info over the phone.

It's possible that the person concerned has asked for their name to be excluded from the publicly available register so you may get nowhere anyway.

However this web site could be useful:

If you know the name of someone else who lives in the same road, search on them.

Whn the results come up, there's an option to search for neighbours.

You don't need to register for this search.

I bought the 2004 electoral role cd rom. I don't know if there is a way to PM people on this site, but if there is, and you want to, you could send me the name of the person and the disc will trow up everyone of that name in the country. If you are able to pinpoint a county, so much the better, if you have two christian names, then i could cross match addresses.
