Gulliver at 6.39pm. I agree. Rayner has a certain ‘doability’ about her (Truss doesn’t), but some the AB wimmin got very precious on the Rayner thread.

I always wonder why so many women are in senior posts are they selected on genuine merit or is it to tick the equality and diversity boxes. ? I remember Dianne Abbott as Shadow Home Secretary, before the election the local Labour candidate was canvassing in my area I told him had it not been for the fact that that Dianne Abbott would have been Home Secretary should labour have won I would have voted for them. His response was that black women were underrepresented in politics and he was not keen to see her removed from her post. She had a much closer previous relationship with Jeremy Corbyn, so interestingly she was relieved of her post when Keir Starmer took over. Take Cressida Dick a woman, lesbian, how many boxes did that tick? And when senior women get appointed they always make a big deal about it "The first woman". Does it matter? Isn't it important that they can do the job rather than diversity?

Hang on though…whilst I think she’s the spawn of the devil, Priti Patel is there not because of diversity but because she’s the darling of the Tory right.

And let’s be honest - there are plenty of incompetent men who make it to the top and no-one questions whether they made it because of diversity…

She's have to have done so to practise the lies she spouted....The UK is doing all it can to help the refugees......there will always be a home in the UK for refugees....
