I've been watching the six o'clock so-called news on the BBC. It is now 6:20. All I've seen is "Breaking News - Three freed hostages are back in Israel."

his is accompanied by drone footage of places bombed to smithereens, reporters standing in streets in Tel Aviv and elsewhere and two helicopters on the ground wih their navigation lighs flashing.

I appreciate this is big news to those in Israel and perhaps a few people here. But there is other news.. And I've seen no sign of the released hostages.

3 women we moved from a hamas truck into a red cross truck.

The news outlets are milking it for all it's worth.

Have we seen any Palestinians released?

Israel has got a bum deal.

Never mind, Judge, the snooker's back on at 6:45 on Eurosport.

I think it's big news

I believe at least one is a Brit, hence Brit news - simple.

NJ: Are you not interested in foreign affairs? Do you think that war in the middle east will have no impact on ua?

There IS other news so what is preventing you from viewing, listening to or reading about it on any number of sources on TV, radio or internet?

Hamas say that for every hostage released, 30 Palestinians will be released from Israeli jails.

Perhaps you should watch GB News?

That was for NJ.

Are they not reporting it Corby?

Not right now.

I can't see how it's not all over all the news outlets.  It's world news.

NJ sees much as an "absolue disgrace"...when, in reality, it isn't.

Have a watch on channel 236 on Freeview or watch it online.

The BBC news at 5.35 on BBC1 devoted about half the time to the ceasefire, showed images of the hostages being released, included an interview with the mother of the British/Israeli hostage etc etc. The rest of the time was about the Trump inauguration.

The gloryfying or whatever it amounts to over the releases is ludicrous. Some of the "released" will be dead bodies, the live ones after 400+ days with Hamas will be heavily traumatised. Making it a spectacle of it is disgusting.

yeah I agree - 3 live prisoners are returned and is news and the 60 000 dead in Gaza are not

I thought it was because the Beeb was accused of being ( Heavens ! no no surely not) antisemitic

so  you have reels of cheering crowds in a build up area and next people wandering back to their flattened houses

“NJ: Are you not interested in foreign affairs? Do you think that war in the middle east will have no impact on ua?”

I’m not particularly interested in this affair. It has been going on in one form or another and to a greater or lesser degree all my life and it will still be going on long after I am dead.

My gripe is that the latest development is a one-liner. The extensive coverage added nothing to that one line. It was just a continuous stream of drivel which added nothing in the way of news.

“There IS other news so what is preventing you from viewing, listening to or reading about it on any number of sources on TV, radio or internet?”

Nothing. But this is not really about my requirements. Yes, I could have switched to another outlet. But Sky News was identical and GB News was showing a rerun of an interview with David Davis which took place this morning. But the BBC – for which I have to pay if I want to watch anything else – was not providing a proper news bulletin.

No doubt tomorrow their “news” will be almost exclusively Mr Trump’s inauguration. That is not even news at all.
