the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been asked to undertake a study into potential connections between vaccines and autism.....

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/07/health/hhs-cdc-vaccines-autism/index.html

a connection long ago discredited......... or was it?

could the study be a political move by Trump's anti-vaxxer in chief, RFK? or is there a possibility that Andrew Wakefield was actually right all along?

Your link doesn't work for me.

hmm. I often find Answerbank adds spurious characters to the ends of links. I grow weary of it, and if I repost the link the same will probably happen again. I've complained about this. Deaf ears as usual from the authorities.

But, if you delete everything after the word "autism" and the forward slash, it should work.

Andrew Wakefield was definitely wrong which has had serious repercussions on children, you only have to look at the recent spread of cases of measles. Kennedy is a nut job and why he was given the job is a mystery

I too suffer the extra character problem from time to time but have yet to get a solution.

Thanks Mush. It's now worked (but I haven't read it yet).

Bleuler in 1911. Bleuler used the term to describe a symptom of schizophrenia, which he believed was a form of self-absorption. However, it was not until the 1940s that autism was recognized as a separate condition.
The MMR vaccine which caused the anti vac because of autism was not available until the 1960s

From the link - "The CDC has previously published several studies looking at a possible link between vaccines and vaccine ingredients and autism. None has found any evidence to suggest that vaccines increase the risk of autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders.

“As President Trump said in his Joint Address to Congress, the rate of autism in American children has skyrocketed,”

I suspect that political pressure is being used. Probably a waste of money re-opening this issue. Perhaps Trump will push for an investigation into evolution, to please the Christian right.

My nephew was diagnosed in the late 60s but we knew something wasn't right a few years before that.

Trump and Kennedy expressing views on medical matters would be a joke if it were not potentially dangerous.

Admittedly, the fact that there was autism before vaccination does not rule out the possibility of vaccines causing an increase in autism cases. Unfortunately, finding a link betwen a vaccine and autism would have to extend over many years; and which vaccine would be studied? All of them? They have already been studied, without a result. Nutters are now in positions of political strength.

And  "...the rate of autism in American children has skyrocketed..."

So has the rate of obesity. Is that caused by vaccination? Oh dear, maybe Trump will intruct an investigation into that?

And "Wokery"?

As far as I recall it wasn't individual vaccines that were suspected of causing autism, but the practice if administering three vaccines together - MMR - mumps, measles and rubella.   I am aware if several children who very quickly succumbed to autism after having the triple jab and I have my doubts that the timing of the rise in cases of autism is a coincidence.  Separate vaccines would be my choice.

*for if read of.  Little keys on a phone.

a unique opportunity to test this was offered in Japan from 1993, after which date MMR wasn't used in that country. The result was that the withdrawal of MMR had no effect on the rate of incidence of Autism.

(hopefully the link will work.....)

no, it didn't! how annoying!

delete everything after .01425.x in the link, and it'll work.

Mushroom, I find pressing enter after posting a link works.  I rarely have trouble posting links since doing that.

mushie I am shocked

a connection long ago discredited......... or was it? - yes a long time ago - see Mrs Cheese's anti axxine lies on AB - there are now billions of vaccine reactions - - - - there werent. My standard views were deleted

It was the start of my journeythat the AB wisest of the wise werent, and might be er playing to another agenda - now five years later, obvious

could the study be a political move by Trump's anti-vaxxer in chief, RFK? probably

or is there a possibility that Andrew Wakefield was actually right all along? exhaustively recorded and investigated and no.

The RFK's cra\y series wd be marred with recall bias and confirmation bias

and we have one !

The american firms were asked for side effect records and said they hadnt kept any as they wernte paid to - series not more than 10 000

NHS had a series recorded of..... amillion -  kept in real time

and it was able to as it was part of the spec and the org was NOT motivated by cutting costs and cheapness

Mushe - I am really really shocked at you

wakefored involved forgerry ( clearly wakeford still says wakey wakey - wake up to the real danger)

here is a bit of the Mrs Xheese anti vax rubbish
