Hilary Benn, the MP was in the same class as me
My husbands mum was in the same class as Elaine Paige.

Vinnie Jones...

also my old school was used in the series Hope and Glory with Lenny Henry..

does this make me famous?? Lol

Hubby also starred in a Football Fitness video with Gary Linekar

I went to school with Sam Mendes, also Nigel Starmer-Smith and Jim Rosenthal, but they were before my time!!
My oldest sister was in the same classes as Shirley Bassey throughout school. She was'nt the most popular pupil (SB) either. We lived opposite the Bassey family and they were all liked. I can just about recall Shirley singing at a house party. The family moved from "Tiger Bay" when Shirley was just 18 months old. She grew up in Splott,Cardiff. The "Girl From Tiger Bay" is just hype. She's done well all the same:-)
My Mum went to school with Ted Hughes and Sir Bernard Ingham. Hebden Bridge Grammar.
Very old football fans will remember David Sadler, who was at my school - although in a higher year, and Jonathon Ross attended my university a few years before me, so I suppose he doesn't really count.
Morrisey went to the same school as i did -a few classes down from me
Henry McLeish......former First Minister of Scotland who was forced to resign as a result of a witch-hunt primarily because he didn't conform to the Labour Party "clique".
I personally do not believe that he intentionally did anything dishonest, but these days there's always some b*****d who wants to stab you in the back.
I acted in a play with Roger Martin who played 'the nephew' in Terry And June and my wife was a year above Anthea Turner at school. In fact we know Anthea quite well, but that's a long story.

We were always being told how proud we should be that the RSC director, Trevor Nunn, had been a pupil at our school - but he was well before my time.

I do remember a lad a few years below me, however, called Nicholas Kershaw. I understand he went on to make a few records.

I was at college with an arrogant PE student (aren't all PE students arrogant?) called Howard Wilkinson who went on to manage various football teams (e.g. Leeds UFC) with varying degrees of success.

If we're into name-dropping then I ought to say that it's often the teachers who meet the well-known names, rather than the pupils. During my 15 years in teaching I met Cliff Richard, Marti Caine, George Hamilton IV, Jack Charlton, Laurie McNenemy (we had a blazing row!), Premier League referees Keith Hackett & Uriah Rennie, many well-known cricketers (including David Lloyd & Ian Botham), David Blunkett, various MPs, Baroness Cox, . . . and I danced with a former Miss England :-)

Chris
My brother was in the same class as the late David Scarboro (the actor who played Mark Fowler in EastEnders until 1988).
wayne rooney went to my school De La Salle in Croxteth, Liverpool a few years after I left. My nephew played footie with him
I used to go the paul mccartney fame school, lipa, so i know loads who will be famous one day and a few who are already a little bit famous.
i went to school with alex tew... the guy who recently made the million dollar homepage... so he's been in the news lately
Noel Gallagher, or Bod as we called him.
gary - were they funny guys at school?? Or were you their witty mate??
yes, this funny round-headed kid... always wore a pointed cap with a bell on the end... never thought he'd amount to much, a real yes-man... but he never looked back once he teamed up with Big Ears and they got into showbiz.
