I was emotional today when I heard that Jimmy Johnstone had passed away and shed a tear for one of my heroes. The last time I did that was when John Lennon died.
gary baldy - Goldie died ages ago! She would be 27 now if she were still alive! Anyway, Princess Diana, and probably quite a few other people.
The only celebrity's death I've cried at is Bobby Moore, a true gentleman and a perfect ambassador for football.

gef - the point is crying over someone you don't actually know dying.

wouldn't be much of a question if it included everyones family and friends, would it?

Princess Diana, when Elton John sang.

can never drum up much emotion for dead celebs - when kurt cobain killed himself i was a bit upset but only because Nirvana were one of my fvourite bands and a wanted to see them live and looked forward to new albums etc not because i felt much for the man himself - does that make me mean? However i am much more likely to feel emotional when watching a film or tv about the death of a character (even been know to shed to odd tear in sympathy then)

River Phoenix, it still makes me sad
John Peel. I felt as if a favourite uncle had died.
I didn't cry but felt very sad when Bobby Moore died he was a great footballer and a real gentle man, somebody who was proud to play for his country.
A couple of years ago we were driving through France and they mentioned Nelson Mandela on the radio. We couldn't understand what they were saying but we thought that he might have died. I remember feeling very close to tears as I think he is one of the bravest men still alive. It turns out he wasn't dead (obviously!) and I felt pretty stupid afterwards. However, when he does die I can be fairly certain I will be bawling my eyes out! Never felt like crying for anyone else though, does Gandalf count?

When Princess Diana died- but not because the world was one more over privaliged, attention seeking **** down, but because I never realised how many over emotional idiots there were....i felt as if I knew her....Queen of our Hearts.....a saint.. I mean for christs sake!

Said "aaah!" the other day when I read that Christopher Reeve's widow had died. Also Jack Wilde. And Linda Smith. Cried while watching Diana's funeral, but felt annoyed at broadcasting of George Best's funeral. Strange, huh?

there will be tears of joy when that ar*ewipe doherty finally od's on whtever crap he's jabbing in his arm/up his nose....

not being completely cold hearted i was more than a little upset when Ronnie Barker left us..

sickofmorons. As I said on another thread, I had no time for Diana either. However, you do keep bringing this same thing up. Please respect the fact that some people genuinely felt she was a wonderful person and were really upset at her passing. We are all different. Some people would be totally amazed that I was upset when John Peel died - we can't help our emotions.
Gessoo- Some people though Pol Pot and Stalin were genuilnely wonderful people, I 'm afraid I cannot respect people who feel that way about her as they are stupid and I couldn't respect stupidity. However John Peel is a different matter, he actually did something with his life and seemed to be a genuine bloke. Oh and just finally we can help our emotions- thats what makes us British damn it man!
I cried when Optimus Prime died in Transformers the movie. Never really got over it. I'm welling up now just thinking about it.
Now that is worthy of a tear or two- incidentally I cried when my baby brother stepped on and broke my Optimus Prime that I had just recieved for the Christmas on 1986.
He truly was the King of our Hearts RIP Optimus Prime. Goodbye Cybertrons heart, we never knew you at all, your spark plugs died out long before your legend ever weeeillll!

I'm not really a crier, but 2 deaths affected me to the brink of tears.

When Bob Monkhouse died, I can remember the choking in my stomach and throat, he reminded me of my grandfather (looks, manner, everything) and that really upset me.

But most distrubing was when John Peel went. I felt physically sick and couldnt talk. I sat on my own and sobbed. I had no idea that his passing would affect me so. Again he felt like family.

I'm also not looking forward to when Ray Readon goes, I have similar grandfatherly links to him as well.

I am absolutely shocked how many people thought of princess Diana of an angel. Yeah an angel who was while not divorced sleeping with someone else, partying with someone else. She maybe was on bandwagon of good causes about 50 days in a year. The rest of the time she was living the high life in Bahamas, and southern France. I cant belive how people can be like sheep sometimes and just follow everyone. She was a bad mother, why did she not spend more time with her kids instead of shipping them off to bording school. I could go on but will probably make all you Diana lovers cry.
