Unfortunate Names

Do you know anyone with an unfortunate name? Maybe it's a foreign name with a different meaning in another language? Or just an old fashioned word which means something quite rude? Or an unfortunate combination of names?

How has having an unfortunate name affected them?

From the genesreunited site I found I had relatives with the surname Witts.

Checking people with that name on the site I've found a Minnie Witts and a Willie Witts.

I used to deal with a gentleman with the surname Huck, his parents who obviously were not too bright christened him Alfred

British 3 Day eventer Pippa Funnell caused a few laughs whilst competing in the Athens olympics of 2004 ,amongst the Greek population.

kid in my class was called Hi which made for some interesting conversations with people who didn't know "whats your name?" "Hi" "Hello, whats your name?" etc..

Another kid was called Name this also caused confusion. Kyle Hunt was in another class.

In our town there is a young man called Dwayne Pipes!

Mr Brik was at school with a Donald Wilson. His mother was widowed, remarried and Donald's stepfather then legally adopted him. The stepfather was called Duck.

A friend said :" I've invited John MacInerney along this evening to join the Group." The rest of us expected 3 people to arrive, John, Mack and Ernie, so we all had a surprise when only one arrived!

I remember one unfortunate guy I served with called Pte Pottie, he was a great soldier but with a surname like that, he was never taken seriously. It never seemed to bother him but I often wonder if he would have achieved higher rank than private if he had another surname.

If you look on the credits of buffy in the latter series you might be amused to note that the music arranger is a Thomas ******( it doesnt mean that in America) and I once worked in the stationery trade and had to odd customers(name wise)

the first was a Mr H ******* of Balls and Co Solicitors in London and the other was a company called gayqueen properties ltd and there were 4 directors who had the surname coward

There used to be an upmarket car dealer in the North of England called Eric Hunt - it was emblazoned on all his showrooms and on the rear windows of all the cars he sold.

I once enrolled a student whose surname was Honey : the next one in the queue was a Mr Lemon.

ive just remembered that when I took my driving test in 1979 I failed two and passed on the third and I was amazed the three examiners names were Bird, Chicken and Lamb in that order

There's a guy working the the office below where I work called 'Mike Hunt'. We used to think people were buzzing in asking for 'my c**t' as a joke...

I've also been told of a famous Cricketing moment in which two players called Feeling and Balls led to the announcement on the radio "The bowler is Feeling the batsman's Balls" but I'm not sure if that's true.

Fanny is a name used in Enid Blyton books (and wasn't it the name of Mrs. Bennet in Pride and Prejudice) so it mustn't have been thought of as rude until the last forty years or so.
